Psychotherapy for Individuals

Therapeutic Approach

Therapeutic Approach

You are allowed to talk about anything you want in therapy. I will meet you there and follow your lead, while also providing feedback and insight. My therapeutic practice is informed by several philosophies and modalities, including psychodynamic, person-centered, Polyvagal Theory, and attachment-based therapy.

Philosophy & Modalities

Psychodynamic therapy is a more in-depth talk therapy, where we will explore your relationship with yourself, others, and the world around you. We will aim to increase your self-awareness and build more understanding of your present thoughts and behaviors. This approach is non-directive and empathetic, and I seek to help you explore how your past connects to your present.

Person-centered therapy uses unconditional positive regard to help you experience growth and change. This approach puts you first, and as your therapist I will offer you support, guidance and structure. Think of me as your guide as we trek through the wilderness and gain new vantages.

Along the way, I will help you understand how you relate to yourself and others through the lens of attachment. We will also discover how your body is responding to your environment and how this impacts your ability to regulate emotions and relationships. The goal is for us to experience a trusting and supportive relationship together, and to help heal any attachment wounds you may have.

In working with food and body issues, I use an approach informed by Health at Every Size®, Intuitive Eating, and Body Trust. I hold a weight neutral standpoint and encourage clients to explore the ways in which diet culture and internalized stigma have impacted their body image, relationship to movement, and approach to food.
